The City Taqueria
About This Spot
Walking into The City Taqueria, you’re instantly welcomed by the unpretentious hum of a true San Francisco neighborhood staple. It’s one of those spots where the pace is just right—unhurried but lively enough to feel part of the city’s everyday rhythm. The modest storefront and simple decor might not shout for attention, but the warmth lingers in the air, carried by the promise of freshly made Latin American flavors that feel both familiar and crafted with care.
The atmosphere invites you to pause and savor more than just a meal. Whether you’re slipping in for a quick lunch or settling in for a relaxed afternoon bite, there’s an easygoing comfort here that’s hard to find elsewhere—big portions and approachable prices make it feel like a shared discovery among friends. The kitchen’s dedication to authentic street-style tacos and burritos reveals itself in every bite, where vibrant flavors meet generous layers of fresh ingredients; the tang of pico de gallo, the creaminess of guacamole, and the satisfying weight of hearty fillings combine to make each dish feel thoughtfully composed without fuss.
The City Taqueria’s charm also lies in its human moments: the friendly nods at the counter, the careful preparation behind the scenes, and the easy smiles despite a steady stream of customers. It’s not a polished dining experience, but that down-to-earth approach is precisely what brings people back. You leave feeling nourished in the most simple and genuine way—a meal made with a respect for tradition, and the kind of satisfied fullness that reminds you why these corner taquerias matter in the fabric of community life.

This has to be one of the best hole in the wall places in San Francisco. I’m so happy we stopped here for lunch. Good prices and excellent food. Big portions too! Left feeling very full. Also, the super quesadilla is the best quesadilla any of us had ever tried. Highly recommend coming here!

I got the pastor super burrito , pretty huge compared to others. This burrito was delicious every thing paired well. The service was kinda slow, but the cashier was very nice so it didn’t bother me. Not a fan of the decor.
